El Morro

My ditch growing up was el morro. A small bowl like water overflow nestled up in the hills between laguna and newport beach. Today multi million dollar homes cover what was untouched ocean front landscape. In the prime, parking blocks, chuncks of wood, fence posts and anything else scavangeable were used to maximize el morro. You could drive your car all the way up to the top and park right next to it. Eventually the land was bought by some housng company and slowly the workers tried to stop people from going up to skate. First a fence went up, but we all no a fence can't keep down a pack of skaters. They put rocks in the road, so we drove around em. Bottom line, they couldnt stop anyone if they wanted. Here is where the story takes an abrupt end. One night a party goes off up in the hills, lots of druken mayhem and before you know it, some guy trys to rape this girl and beats her for not giving in. She wandered down to pch and was picked up by the police who happened to be passing by. Within the next week el morro was filled in flat with cement. That was probably 1994 or 95.
